TCM: New Release Blog Hop

Thursday, June 20, 2013

Welcome to The Craft's Meow June New Release Blog Hop, y'all!  You should be coming here from Jessica Fick's Blog, but if you didn't and want to start at the beginning or simply get lost along the way, a complete list of hop participants can be found on The Craft's Meow Store Blog.  So, those of you who are long-time followers of mine know that I'm the biggest fan of mixing and matching stamp sets, which I get to do today.  Woohoo!  I've used all FOUR of this month's release sets to create a beautiful page, filled with such sweet memories.  Enjoy!
I started this page by smudging a little Patina Glimmer Mist, from the top right corner to the bottom left, across the gray, postage, base page, inking through a star stencil with Peeled Paint Distress Ink, and stamping the flourishes in Jet Black ink.  I then secured a strip of flocked vellum, down the vertical center of my design, with white-threaded, hand stitches, tied off in a couple, little bows, before stamping the leafy image, in Pumpkin Pie ink, down both its long sides and machine stitching, with white-threaded, straight stitches, a piece of ivory, cross-stitched, patterned paper, which had been Cameo-cut with the seals, as well as a wide strip of aqua, weave, patterned paper, which had its left side corners rounded and was stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "Kindred Spirits" title.
My photos were then matted with a Whisper White, cardstock panel and adhered, in the center of the layout, with foam tape.  The journaling card was then created by stamping the frame, as well as the "SWEET MEMORIES" phrase, in Soft Suede ink, on Pool Party cardstock; ink distressing its edges; stamping the flourish, to coordinate with the base page, in White ink; securing an orange, "date:" Oct. 21, 2012 label to it with a simple paper clip; and using it to journal, An afternoon stop to see Laurie turned into quite the adventure, when we discovered our parents went to college together, and Laurie and I played with one another long ago.  If you're interested, here's a link to the whole crazy story.
An aqua, "BEST ROAD TRIP" strip connects the journaling to the cluster near the top of the page.
The ampersand was Cameo-cut from a vintage, kraft, newspaper, patterned paper and dressed up with roses which had been stamped, in Jet Black ink, on various, color-coordinating, patterned papers; hand cut out; and adhered, in their respective locations, with foam tape.
A "hello", cardstock, sticker greeting and a few, clear gemstones turn our attention to the secondary cluster on the opposite side of the page, which boasts the same stamped, rose image and clear gemstones as the right, but also houses a stamped, in Melon Mambo ink, on White cardstock and hand-cut, "100% Loved" seal, as well as a "kindred spirits, You & Me", cardstock sticker.
Further inspiration for this page came from Stuck's June 1st Sketch, which I've rotated 90 degrees to the left.
And here's a full look at all the goodness awaiting your inky, little fingers this month.
